Songs that’ll blow into a Sun

Signs we had taken for hope
Are tattered and mired in streets.

And vultures now hover
Over corpses of claims –
Claims that are rotting in drains.

How does one strive,
And sustain one’s faith
In times, as hooded as these?

Leaves that’ll wither
On branches in chill
Have siblings in spheres elsewhere.
There they must bloom,
In Amazonian gloom
While ours may loosen and fall
And send us their scents
In darkest of nights
For breaths that’ll blow into a song.

So, shackled in nights of fear and pain
We count our losses and hum
Songs that’ll blow into a Sun..

Abin, I have no email address for you. Would you please email me at WildWoman2@shaw.ca? I have a question to ask you!

The poem is sad and fearful...yet I am always hopeful that a silver lining is under those gloomy clouds ~

Abin, I hear you. It is hard to keep the faith sometimes when there is so much 'rotting' all around! Well penned.

Gosh, Abin, what words, words, words to stir the heart-strings. Your lead in is extraordinary, and each successive lines opens the whole experience before one's eyes. Excellent conclusion too, and all with a strong sense of rhyme.

i love the concept of your title. It's somber, but somberly hopeful. Like Happy Vaporization, the phrase used to describe dying in the immediate blast of a hydrogen or atom bomb. happy because you don't have to live through the fallout. I very much dig the questions you put forth but know so boldly, they have no answer. viva la

I like this very much. It needed saying, but not to forget there is another side to the coin.

Dave,I am not sure if I got what you said.Could you elaborate on which other sides your are referring to?

"into A sun??"

let voices travel...like bottled letters across oceans..and when you uncork, let them drown the waves..

another great write here - the dichotomy of happy and sad - Isadora picked up on it perfectly above there - great flow again - good imagery too! good stuff!
