Returning at Night…

Flicker from the exhausted eyes
Still through my veins now rush
Murmurs of unforeseen hope.

Clichés of depth cannot catch
Pin code of pupils now lost.

Far beyond catalogues and volumes of calls
These my beacons of aquamarine light
That’ll shore my being to the end of my stop
And blanket my cheap-rented sleep.

Distilled in brief little glimmers of sense
I long for a reciprocal glance that’ll shape
Prospects of words beyond items and price.

the last line was a killer...

where souls come with barcodes..its too much to expect...but as Dantes says, we can only wait and hope

Kaleidoscopic.

Love "That’ll shore my being to the end of my stop
And blanket my cheap-rented sleep.". This poem is fun to read, and reread, too. I enjoyed the cadence and as well as the message.

Sometimes there is nothing better than a good night's sleep after a long day in the office. Great imagery in this!

I specially like the second stanza...I hope he will get the kind of homecoming he deserves ~

Many lines and phrases in this call to me, but that last stanza is, as sayan says, a killer!

To me, this plays like the exhausted lament of the traveling sales rep at the end of a long fruitless day. I especially like the phrase "blanket my cheap-rented sleep."

Pin codes of pupils now lost....yeah...love that line. Some definite yearning in the most significant of ways. This is chock full of great lines....great writing.

Love the second stanza--and that sense of being lost in something too complex to grasp that is winning. Know the feeling.

So good, a read worth reading again, and once more.

You give us a look at those eyes and the rush of thought and emotion they launched. Lovely imagery.

It is nice to have such to come home to and to also make all that one does worthwhile...
