Transit

Arrivals, departures, delays -
Endless train of winding queues
Matched with twang of monotone calls.

The stale air swivels
Through the doors and drags
Its belly to the seats
And after a curious glance or two
Slops.
More and more of twangs and queues.

But there she came
In brightest blue
And in strokes of instant charm
All my sighs were filled with sky
Fragrant then with dawning light
That shoots my soul in joyous flight
Into the realms of fancy's bliss
Chiming now with lilting peace.

And then my call to join the queues...

Check in your visions and leave.
The world flies like thrown rocks -
Further both from dawns and dreams.

Sad-sad-happy-sad.Good as a poem but try not to believe the last lines you have said,or else life will get sad-sad-sad-sad.

What a wealth of sensory images in this poem! The personification of the stale air taking up its seat is a masterful touch, and I love: 'All my sighs were filled with sky..'

This one has some excellent lines--you build the pictures here very adroitly, and with a sense of personal immediacy. I like this esp: "The stale air swivels
Through the doors and drags
Its belly to the seats..." Thanks for your immigrant reminiscences at my place---people like your parents and my grandparents change the shape of the world.

The stale air personified...how great! There are so many layers to this. You included arrivals and departures...the feeling of trying to get somewhere but going nowhere...a great piece!

rarely, if ever, has stale air been the subject of so much refreshing appreciation! Thanks to all and from the band of stale airs everywhere - hats off!

This is exciting stuff to read. I enjoyed it very much. The last lines were a bombshell. Just brilliant.

Abin, I liked this a lot. Sometimes it seems like life is one constant queue; and sometimes the stale air surrounds us. But then, thankfully, there is that 'dawning light' that lifts us up and beyond. So well expressed, Abin. (Visiting from RT)

I am glad you dug this up and shared it with us. The emotions are weaving here from sad to happy to sadness....reality check at the end?

I love the way the whole poem instantly brightened when 'she' arrived.

I'm with Rosemary! That part was truly beautiful. I can also relate to the blue mood in this.
