The Rubaiyat of Dorian Gray

Snuggled in the corners where lights never creep,
Cradled with roofs that utter not a peep,
I shovel through the mire I have piled
And ledger in pain the corpses I keep.

Doing th soul's bookkeeping can be rough work.I agree this would be a fine beginning to a longer poem, but it also works this way.

Wonderful! I love the use of the word "ledger" as a verb here.

and what transpires in the corners never peeped compells us all to wonder. The fact that you have left the significant details to the imagination shows the trademark of a real poet who knows how to bring his audience to a moment without talking through the whole thing. great job.
