Sleepless in Saltlake

Yet another day now comes to a close.

Shutting at last my ledgers of pain,
I browse through the pages of hours of days
And cower beneath well-trodden caches of blank
That have clogged my disks with items unused
In drives full of untraceable malwares in heaps.

Trapped into unchanging patterns of same
I dread rather more the end that'll start,
These patterns at once from scratch.

Torn between fears of a withered old dawn
And sleep full of illusion of rest
I writhe among sheets with eyes open shut
And count my minutes full of sweat.

This charged ahead with fierce finesse, I love the rhythmic touch. You also remain the best at incorporating technological references.

You're capturing stress and hopelessness rather perfectly, too.

I especially love "torn between fears of a withered old dawn". Clever equating thoughts to a hard drive and unused files.........

One often gets riled by events. It might take a toll on us. We can overcome eventually all by ourself! Nicely Abin!

ugh...I hate sleeplessness...I've had struggles with insomnia so I can so relate. Nicely woven with tech references to describe the experience.

Enjoyed this tour of sleepless anxiety, so well described. (I've been there so I know it well) The last line says it all

I'm sure we all know how this feels at times.

The feeling of sleeplessness and an unsettled mind are all to idenifiable, especially in the wake of last nights full moon. This had that desperate feel that only an overactive mind can give....great internal drama, loved it.

Hank, I am a bit late in commenting for the Pantry this week. Sigh. Whew, this is a strong poem......definitely a 'sleepless night.' Been there!

I'm no stranger to those sleepless nights, either!
